Why do you think Alonso joined the Shinning Path?

I think Alonso joined the Shining Path because he felt powerless. His mother had just been killed and his father was hitting him, I think that he just wanted some control over his life. When he joined the Shining Path I think that he felt like he was making a difference when really he wasn't helping anyone.

I think Alonso joined the Shining Path because he felt that he had no where else to turn. His father beat him, he wasn't allowed to go to school, Rosa wasn't allowed to see him, and his only true friend, Rodolfo, was a member. He probably also felt like he was apart of something in the Shining Path. Like he had a role and place in the world, which after Magda' death, he hadn't felt. I personally don't think that was the wisest move on his part, but I do understand that he was confused and frustrated.

I think that Alonso joined the Shining Path because he was troubled and confused. He, at first wanted revenge on this organization that murdered his mother, but later was able to connect with them and decided to join himself. I think part of the reason Alonso joined was because his friend pressured him into joining, his father was always drunk as well as beating him, Rosa was still back in Salvador and out of touch, and his mother was shot and killed. This put a lot of stress on Alonso and he felt like the only option to turn to was to join the Shining Path.
